Special Education Parent Advisory Council (AFSEPAC)

Acushnet/Fairhaven Special Education

Parent Advisory Council (AFSEPAC)

What we are?
The town of Fairhaven combines with the town of Acushnet to offer an advisory council for parents of students with disabilities. The combined organization is called the Acushnet/Fairhaven Special Education Parent Advisory Council (AFSEPAC). The group is chaired jointly by parents from each town. The ultimate goal is to enhance special education service delivery for students throughout both school districts.

Who we are?
The AFSEPAC is comprised of parents interested in facilitating communication and cooperation among parents, guardians, and school officials.  Any parent of a child with special needs, any teacher, or any interested community member is welcome to participate.

Why participate?
The AFSEPAC offers a format to facilitate communication and cooperation among parents, guardians, and school officials and staff as well as a way to provide feedback to the school districts regarding services, needs, and concerns.  The council also provides training and information pertinent to special education topics as well as the state and federal regulations.  Additionally a book and video lending library is maintained in each town for parents, teachers and students.
