What You Need to Know: PreK-5

Keeping the Learning Alive

It is important during this time that we continue to reinforce skills already taught while deepening each child’s learning experience.  Early literacy skills are essential to each childs’ future academic success. Any time you spend with your child working through an activity is time well spent. We strive to balance online activities that require a device with activities that students and families can do outside (while practicing safe social distancing). Students can write, observe nature, look for items to count and process, learn about measurement by helping cook a meal—the possibilities are endless. During this unprecedented time, we will continue to do whatever we can, as best as we possibly can. You can help us do this at home.

What to Expect

To continue growing your child's literacy skills, teachers have worked together to build weekly enrichment activities.  Lessons designed to continue building early learning skills have been created to deliver the best for our students. These lessons are included in weekly remote learning plans. While these plans do not require parents to teach, they are best received when an adult is present to oversee the lesson. Above all else continue to READ.

Suggested Routines

  1. Read everyday
  2. Follow a schedule (stick to bedtimes)
  3. Check your email or the website for weekly activities.
  4. Find a balance for your family scheduling time in the day for teacher recommended activities and family activities.
  5. Play a game each day. Games are fun and practice a wide variety of social skills and early learning skills.
  6. Play outside as often as possible.
